Ground stump and cleaned soil in a residential yard

Stump Grinding

Grind it out without tearing up the rest of the yard

Overview

A leftover stump is a mowing obstacle, a tripping hazard, and an invitation to pests. Grinding removes it below grade with far less disruption than excavation, leaving usable ground behind.

Below-grade grindingTypically 6–12 inches down so you can resod, replant, or landscape over it.
Surface root cleanupProtruding root flares ground flush so the lawn reads level.
Backfill and tidyGrindings raked back in or hauled out — your call.

Common questions

Can I plant grass over it right away?

Yes, once we backfill with topsoil. If you plan to plant a new tree in the same spot, we grind deeper.

Do you need equipment access?

Our grinders fit through most standard gates. We confirm access during the estimate.

What affects stump grinding cost?

Stump diameter at the root flare, grinding depth, number of stumps, soil conditions, and how tight the access is for the machine.

How long does it take to schedule and complete?

Most stump jobs are booked within a week and finished in a few hours — often the same visit as a removal if you bundle them.
